A ministry of the 26th Street church of Christ on the campus of Marshall University
Latest News

Welcome to the official website of Herd4Christ, a campus ministry of the 26th Street church of Christ on the campus of Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Look through our site & take the time to see some of the things we do. Make sure to check out the website for the 26th Street church of Christ as well. You won't find a more sound & loving congregation of Christians anywhere. If you're visiting Marshall on a Sunday or Wednesday, take the time to stop by & worship with us at 26th Street. We'd love to get to know you better & let you get to know us better as well. We provide rides to all worship services & activities for all students needing transportation. If you have any questions whatsoever, you can contact our campus minister, Chris Roberts, at Herd4Christ@Yahoo.com.

This Weeks Activities:

The Challenge of the Week:
This semster I will be giving you all weekly challenges.  The point of these challenges are to help you to grow spiritually.  The challenges are not only for that specific week.  They are meant to be met & built upon.  I hope that you will take the opportunity to see these through.

Week 1: Find a verse in the Bible that will help you bite your tongue when you really want to make that mean, sarcastic remark & memorize it.
Week 2: Go to a devo, or work on getting someone in the group to go to a devo.
Week 3: Talk to a friend about your salvation.

This week's Challenge:  Talk to a friend about their salvation.

Wednesday Night Bible Class
(Wednesday, February 1 @ 7pm @ the 26th St. church of Christ)
We'll be continuing our question & answer class entitled "You've Got Questions, God Has Answers". I appreciate the questions I've received already & hope that you will give me more (As always, I will keep the questions anonymous). As February is our Service Group month, please plan to stick around after class to be a part of our Service Group.
These are the questions we’ll be discussing this Wednesday:
-If God has given mankind total free will, how does one explain the hardening of Pharaoh's heart?
-Was it possible for Jesus to commit suicide? Was that something that He was barred from? Was it physically possible for Jesus to die if He spent 40 days without food or water? Could He only die the way God had deemed Him to die? Did the Romans really kill Jesus or did they only incapacitate His body for 3 days? Was He ever really dead? Was it possible for Christ's life to be taken in any other way but the way in which it was taken? Was it possible for the immortal mortal to die?

If you have any questions or need a ride, please contact Chris Roberts at  Herd4Christ@Yahoo.com.

Dinner & A Movie Nights
(Thursdays @ 7pm throughout the semester @ the Roberts' Home)
It's pretty self-explanatory. We eat an awesome home-cooked meal & then we watch a really good movie voted on by majority rule. It's a great time to get away, relax & enjoy time among Christian friends. If you need directions, have any questions, or need a ride, contact Chris Roberts at Herd4Christ@Yahoo.com.

"A Not So Random Act of Kindness"

(Friday, February 3 @ 2pm @ the MU Student Center)
A while back, we did something called "Random Acts of Kindness".  We would pick a day & do something kind for people on campus as a way of showing others Christ in us.  We passed out candy, fed parking meters, gave cards to maintenance workers, etc. It was a small way we could do our part to try to change our world, beginning with Marshall University. It was an opportunity for us to live our faith & show Christ to those around us. I think it's time for us to give it a try again.
This Friday, if it is actually cold enough, we'll pass out hot chocolate to cold students, warming both body & heart.. If it's too warm for hot chocolate, we'll pass out cookies or brownies.  This should also give us an opportunity to invite folks to devo &/or church.  We'll meet at the student center @ 2pm. I hope you can join us. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Roberts at  Herd4Christ@Yahoo.com.

"Game Night of Challenges" Devo
(Friday, February 3 @ 7pm @ the 26th Street church of Christ building)
This Friday's Devo will be at the 26th Street church of Christ. We'll enjoy some good food, singing, a devotional lesson & prayer. Afterwards, we'll have a good old fashioned team game night. It will be a night of challenges with such things as team Rock Band, Catch Phrase & Jeopardy. We might even have a few other surprises thrown in. I hope you can join us. If you have any questions, or need a ride, please contact Chris Roberts at 304-840-1457 or Herd4Christ@Yahoo.com.

Sunday Morning Bible Class & Worship
(Sunday, January 5 @ 9:45am, 6pm @ the 26th St. church of Christ)
Craig Roberts will continue this Sunday's class on the topic of the twelve apostles. It should be very interesting. After class we'll enjoy a time of worship together. Don't forget to be back for worship at 6pm. I hope to see you all there. If you need a ride to church, please contact Chris Roberts at Herd4Christ@Yahoo.com, so that we can pick you up at the City National Bank parking lot by 9:25am (for morning worship) &/or 5:40pm (for evening worship).

Learn to sing "Lord Be There"
This is a beautiful song & one that I would like us all to learn to sing.  It requires four distinct parts (Soprano, Tenor, Alto & Bass).  I've included each individual part below.  Sing along with the part you wish to learn & we can sing it together at devotionals.  To hear what it sounds like with all the parts together, click on it under Volume 2 on the left of your screen.

From the inside cover of Volume 2:  We are Herd4Christ, a campus ministry of the 26th Street church of Christ. This is the second CD we have put together as a group. While we are not professional singers, we do love to praise our Lord with our voices as He would have us to do. I hope that you enjoy our second humble attempt at putting together some of our favorite songs on CD. If you don't know some of them, take the time to learn them. It is our hope that these songs will help to lift your spirit. I would like to thank all our singers. This wouldn't be possible without you.
